Mabry
Mill
Aside from being the most photographed site on the Blue
Ridge Parkway, this old mill is really interesting! Colonial life trades and displays take you back a century or two. About 30 minutes from Mountain Song Inn, this is a
good destination to link with time spent in Floyd.
Buffalo Mountain
Close to the inn, a drive here takes you to the highest mountain point in this part of the Blue Ridge Mountains: 4000 feet elevation +/- ! An ideal destination for those interested in an abundance of Appalachian mountain floras and panoramic views. Interesting all year.
JACKSONVILLE CENTER
This idyllic cultural center, located on the site of a former dairy
farm, includes a renovated 1940's dairy barn which now houses a
vibrant arts & cultural facility for the traditional and
contemporary arts. The Center showcases fine arts and crafts by
local artists and artisans, with ongoing exhibits of quilts,
furniture, sculpture, pottery, iron, glass-work, and much more.
About 20 minutes from Mountain Song Inn, a retail shop and several
artist's studios on location offer a wide selection of items
available for purchase.
GREASY CREEK OUTFITTERS
Greasy Creek Outfitters, very close by, specializes in guided
fishing trips tailored to your personal interests. They feature spin
and fly-fishing trips for smallmouth bass and walleye on the New
River at Foster Falls State Park, light tackle angling for striped
bass on Claytor Lake, and fly-fishing for trout on private streams
and in the Dan River Gorge. We’re happy to help you connect with
this quality outfitter and their great fishing trips, all close to
Mountain Song Inn.

THE PICKIN’ PORCH
In downtown Floyd, about 20 minutes away, a large selection of

Several real-thing mountain music bands perform every Friday night throughout the year.This is the place to learn to "CLOG", to 2-step, waltz; in short, all the intrinsic mountain, Blue Grass music culture of the area meets here on Friday nights. HARVEST MOON
Also in Floyd, Harvest Moon is an up-scaled, quasi food store / cafe / artsy-cultural display center! A large inventory of natural and organic food in the downstairs food store is complimented by the Over the Moon Cafe on the second story. Terrific, made-to-order light meal fare, much of which utilizes natural / organic ingredients, AND a unique exhibition area in the cafe displays upscaled, local craft and art creations, many from local artisans.
