AREA VIRGINIA UNIVERSITIES
Incongruous as it may seem to those unfamiliar with our local mountain area, our specific region is a nexus of higher learning. Nearby (1/2 hour) Christiansburg / Blacksburg / Radford are homes to both VA Tech and Radford University. Although both are excellent schools, probably VA Tech is most known as it’s the home of the famous college football team— the Hokies, as well as being one of the country’s premier Engineering centers of higher education. About an hour away, Roanoke and neighboring towns offer fine schools as well.
